Lots going on both in and out of the pool. Make sure to note the workout  schedule for August.
Workout Schedule for August
Coach Greg will be returning to the pool deck on August 1st. A big thank  you to Coach Lorin for providing us with workouts and great technique advice  during Greg's absence.  Workouts will be held at the normally scheduled times  August 1-12th
IMPORTANT: There will be no workouts for the two weeks starting  August 15th while all COOG coaches get a well deserved break. Workouts will  resume at regularly scheduled times beginning the morning of Monday, August  29th. 
Four COOG Masters Swimmers Earn National Top Ten  Times
U.S. Masters Swimming has published the 2011 National Top Ten list for SCY  (25 yd. pool) competition with four COOG swimmers receiving recognition for  their swims. 
In the men's 18-24 age group, Philip Bich placed 8th in  the 400 IM (4:45.94). Coach Greg posted two top ten times in  the men's 30-34 age group, ranked 6th in the 400 IM (4:28.18) and 9th in the 500  free (4:59.07). In the men's 30-34 age group, Jarrod Mars had  the best ranking of all COOG swimmers with a 3rd in the 100 breast (57.11), 4th  in the 50 breast (26.26), and 5th in the 50 free (21.81). Karlene  Denby, competing in the women's 55-59 age group, placed 6th in the 1000  free (12:49.59); 7th in the 1650 free (21:47.42); 8th in the 100 back (1:13.56);  9th in the 500 free (6:13.10), 50 back (33.58), and 200 back (2:41.53); and 10th  in the 200 free (2:20.53).
Vineman 70.3 - Sunday, July 17th
Roswitha Carter and Alana Kennedy-Nasser traveled to California to compete  in the Vineman Half Ironman Triathlon. Roswitha successfully completed her first  half IM on a challenging, hilly course in an outstanding time of 6:28. Alana  finished 11th out of 125 women in her age group in 5:18. Congratulations,  ladies!
Jeff and Brede's Triathlon - Sunday, July  10th
COOG triathletes once again dominated the top spots at a local triathlon.  Congratulations are in order for: John Malanga (4th in men's 40-44), Vivian  Dunlop (2nd in women's 50-54), Carole Penning (6th in women's 50-54), and Jim  Rosborough (2nd in men's 70+). Way to go, COOGS!
